The major types of world maps, as well as topographic, road, and city maps are discussed. Through watching the video and conducting activities in the accompanying guide, students will improve their mapping and navigation skills. Tools used to create maps are discussed, including global positioning systems (GPS), satellite imagery, and laser technologies. Other terminology includes: scale, meridian, latitude, longitude, Mercator projection, legend, and contour lines.
