Reactions is one chapter of a four chapter DVD called Chemistry in Action. The other three chapters are, The Periodic Table, Bonding, and Compounds in Chemistry. Reactions tackles one of the most intriguing topics of chemistry, how chemicals interact with each other. Many different types of reactions are described such as fireworks and rusting. The program continues to look at how to balance chemical reactions and does so with student friendly graphics that almost all students can understand. All on screen text is easily read and narrated with clear pronunciation. The high scores for this come from the use of both real life and computer graphics to explain ideas that are interesting and well described. Video contains intermittent "You Decide" questions for the viewers to answer as well as a summary and video quiz. A 30-page teacher's guide accompanies this video that contains assessments, labs and activities for your students. The video is best suited for grades 8-10 as an introduction into chemistry or a quick review. This program is a must for any teacher that deals with these topics.
