Bonding is one chapter of a four chapter DVD called Chemistry in Action. The other three chapters are, The Periodic Table, Reactions, and Compounds in Chemistry. Bonding uses some engaging live footage and animations to describe the process of bonding. All major bonds are covered: ionic, covalent, and metallic. The real advantage to this program is that it describes how these bonds affect the original state of matter. The video does an excellent job of utilizing animated graphics to help further the students understanding of each bonds role in matter. All on screen text is easily read and narrated with clear pronunciation. The high scores for this come from the use of both real life and computer graphics to explain ideas that are interesting and well described. Video contains intermittent "You Decide" questions for the viewers to answer as well as a summary and video quiz. A 30-page teacher's guide accompanies this video that contains assessments, labs and activities for your students. The video is best suited for grades 8-10 as an introduction into chemistry or a quick review. This program is a must for any teacher that deals with these topics.
