What is Sound?

When you hear the roar of traffic, the bark of a dog, or your teacher’s voice, you are experiencing sound. This program uses colorful animations to explore important characteristics of sound, including intensity, loudness, pitch, and frequency. Concepts and terminology illustrated in this video include: vibrations, frequency, pitch, amplitude, volume, how sound travels, uses of sound energy, speed of sound, and how we hear sounds.
